What’s New in QAT Wizard 4.5
Full Client Control – That’s the new theme for QAT Wizard release 4.5. QAT Wizard was our very first product and has been successfully evolving for over ten years. In past releases, the Wizard has always been a two part product. First, the Wizard plug-in itself is a sophisticated plug-in for AllFusion® Gen that expertly copies and customizes Gen code according to a custom interview. The second part is the actual pattern model that gets copied and customized by the Wizard. This pattern model has always been supplied by QAT as a starting point, with the understanding that the client could customize the model code and user interfaces. This pattern model has many options for each pattern and attempts to satisfy the various styles and preferences of our clients. However, the interview was not something the client could modify and therefore, new patterns couldn’t be created unless QAT wrote those patterns and the associated interview.

The newest release of the Wizards (Version 4.5), which will be commercially available shortly after this newsletter is published, will add a third element for the client and some valuable new features to provide Full Client Control. While past releases focused on the features and options within our own pattern model, this new release will focus on allowing the client to take full control over the pattern model and the associated Wizard Interviews that control the Wizard so they can precisely match their own standards and application styles. The pattern model provided by QAT will still be a good starting point, but the client will now be able to create entirely new patterns and associated interviews for the Wizard. We have also added some great new directives for Wizard control that will allow for even more granular customization against the pattern model.

As always, the default pattern model has also been updated to reflect customer requests. Many of these new features are created in the pattern as options so they can be included or excluded during the interview. Some other great new features have also been added. For example, we are including several new user defined functions that are useful for specialized formatting and integration to QAT WebDaptive for web applications.
